Supply chains play a key role in determining the impact of a product, as they encompass every stage of its life, from the sourcing of raw material to its end-of-life disposal. Their sustainability journey, however, is made particularly challenging by their complexity: a company is likely to have several suppliers and each of them will have their own. Speaking to SG Voice, Dr Yossi Sheffi, global supply chain expert and Director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Center for Transportation and Logistics, explores how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can address supply chains in their sustainability strategies.
